Pflügerstraße 15
Pflügerstraße 15, 12047 Berlin, Germany
Event
BlueLobster Art invites you to an intimate evening exploring light, unpredictability, and the act of making the invisible visible.
This experience invites you into the world of experimentation, where function meets intuition, and where fleeting phenomena are carefully observed, performed, and transformed into images.
The Artist
BlueLobster Art has the pleasure of presenting Berlin-based Bulgarian artist Marta Djourina, whose practice explores the essence of light through photographic experimentation.
Working with performative gestures and highly technical setups, Djourina examines the cause and effect of light phenomena, capturing what is usually unseen and fixing the ephemeral into photographic form. As Dr. Sarah Frost writes, “Marta Djourina’s work unfolds a fluid photographic cosmos that expands in space and is constantly in motion—displaying the visual power of photography.”
Her works are held in public collections including the Berlinische Galerie, the Eskenazi Museum of Contemporary Art at Indiana University (USA), IBB Berlin, and the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, among others.
Over the past year, she was invited for numerous group exhibitions across Berlin and Europe, alongside solo presentations in Luxembourg, Brussels, Sofia, and Berlin. In 2025, she was awarded the EMOP Arendt Prize for Photography, accompanied by an exhibition at the National Museum of Art and History in Luxembourg. 2025 exhibitions also include presentations at the Sofia Arsenal – Museum of Contemporary Art, Haus am Kleistpark (Berlin), Villa Heike (Berlin), FeldbuschWiesnerRudolph (Berlin), and Sarieva @ DOT Sofia.
The Experience
**We begin where the work begins: in the darkroom. **Guests step into Marta Djourina’s laboratory space to witness her unique, performative approach, an improvised yet highly precise setup where light becomes an active collaborator in the creation process. This is a rare opportunity to witness the conditions from which the works emerge.
**We then move to the studio, **where works across different techniques and formats are explored together. This is a moment for curiosity, questions, and open exchange — a great chance to engage directly with the artist and her practice.
The evening concludes at a **special location for a surprise drink **to cheers to the wonderful night!
Expect thoughtful conversations, unexpected connections, and a relaxed, joyful night, with a few **artistic and sensory surprises **along the way. 🦞
The tour is organized and led by Sophie Georgiev Ray, Art Project Manager. With a background spanning international marketing, institutional art projects, and commercial partnerships, Sophie creates experiences that connect artists, audiences, and ideas, inviting a new generation of collectors and cultural supporters into meaningful engagement with contemporary art.
